The Best Winding Method

Best Winding Method

Not for the faint of heart!

Here Sterling demonstrates stretch winding
for flying alone on a warm evening.
The model is none other than his 8" span, 2.5 gram Nieuport!

He writes...

"I wind all my planes this way. They must have a long dowl rubber peg. I don't have a stooge, so I just use the toe method. I have been known to sit in snow to do this. On larger planes I need to lean way back to stretch the rubber. This method is handy because you can wind the plane where it lands."
